Headreast Screens

Post by kena » Thu Aug 05, 2010 8:14 am

Anyone know if DVD screens can be fitted in the rear of the headrests on comfort seats. The only ones i have seen have been on the sports seats. The comfort seat headrest is a different shape and smaller than the sport seats.
This is a picture of my seats....

I don't know for sure but i can confirm that i have never seen them have screens in them.
Do they have wires etc in them for movement or is it just because of the size?

Just had a look over on x5outpost and found these threads and now i'm more cofused than before  one guy claims to be able to do it but from the pics i don't think they are actuall oem comfort headrests so it looks like you would have to replace them mate to do it.

Cheers X555
They just look like sports seat headrests fitted to comfort seats
Spoils the look for me.
I'm not looking for integrated dvd, just screens, as i have a 100gb media player tucked away next to my nav computer in the rear.

I would say that they probably won't fit, they look wide enough but not tall enough.

I have measured my screens which are only 5.8inches, the overall measurements are 170mm width x 120mm high. The best thing would be to draw a square on card using dimensions given, and place on headrest, this should give an idea of what the screen would be like or if it would even fit.

I'm almost certain it can't be done mate .....if it were me I would get some sport headrests and get them covered to match you existing leather .

As Phill says the comfort headrests are not so tall but wider instead. Plus they are electrically adjustable. The only way to get screens in these is to have them cut into them. I know that sounds obvious but alot of us have just swapped out the Sport non-electrical headrest for eBay all-in-one units. The size of the headrest matches the generic screen size.

They're will be screens that fit your headrest but they'll be specialist and you'll have to cut into your existing headrest to get that to work. Great deal of money, but possible...

I think it will be possible, but you will be limited to what size screens you can use, the headrest look very similar to RR Vogue ones, and my friend has screens retro fitted in that, i'll try and get you some pics and sizes.
