Evening all.
Can anybody tell me if this is a mkIII or mkIV navigation in my E53 please? I going to attempt to get rid of those ridiculous marks all over it until I can get a Dynavin unit (second in line to an exhaust of course )

Mk4 head and if your boot mounted have computer says DVD then it’s a Mk4 system.
What happened to the display? Is it on the surface or in the panel itself?

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Re: E53 Nav version
Excellent thanks. I’ve only had the car for a couple of weeks and it was like that when I got it. I think it’s in the panel and there’s probably not much I can do with it but I’ll strip it down and see what I can find. The patches don’t move when you touch the screen and they’re always in the same place so probably fatal.
This is what I have in the back

The marks on the screen are dead pixels and nothing to with the sat nav unit...happened on my old e53...had to replace with another unit from ebay...if you change it make sure you disconnect the battery...brown off 1st and back on last...

Not that I’ve done it but isn’t this the sort of thing that people have fixed with what they call the ribbon repair

Careful if you get a Dynavin N7, the iPod function doesn’t work if you have too much music stored on an iPod, or if you have a lot of music showing in your library with the cloud next to it. I had to send mine back and going through a Barclycard reclaim at the moment. My problems included:
1. Didn’t work with iPod classic
2. Didn’t work with brand new iPod touch
3. Can’t select tracks on Dynavin screen when Bluetooth streaming as library crashes.
I basically had very little functionality, I was gutted as it was a simple fit with my DSP amp but glad now I’ve gone with an Alpine unit, although by the time you add in the active crossovers and an amp to drive the original BMW subs it gets a bit out of hand wallet wise!

Re: E53 Nav version
I’m hoping that’s all it is. I’ll give it a go and see what happens. Nothing to loose really.
Sorry to hear that. I always wanted the Pioneer AppRadio but I don’t like the way it sits with the surround and so on. I’ll do some research into Alpine units too before taking the plunge.sleepyfolk wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 1:29 am Careful if you get a Dynavin N7, the iPod function doesn’t work if you have too much music stored on an iPod
Thanks all.
