Ok. Here is the latest..
I whipped off the engine mounts again (quite easy when you know how) as I had an idea..
I got hold of some anti vibration washers and installed them between the body and subframe and bolts and subframe.
Then I made up some tough rubber gaskets for the engine mounts to sit on in the subframe. Good bit of engineering I thought.
Bingo. Its worked. Nice and smooth now.
The engine now seems like its further away now and not in the cabin if you get what I mean. As soon as I started it up I could tell.
Bit happier now..

Re: Latest escapades..
Two things spring to mind, you’ll now have a que of people wanting you to do their engine mounts after admitting it’s not that difficult. Your fix has obviously isolated the vibration reaching the body but not necessarily fixed the vibration. Not wanting to take anything away from some very good lateral thinking

You always have to put a negative spin on things...
Hold on- could earn a few quid changing engine mounts I reckon..
