TPMS

Tue Feb 05, 2019 1:24 pm

4 TPMS/RDKS Sensor for BMW X5 Type E53 October 1999 to September 2006 Programmed with Aluminium Valve Item No. 47250 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07FNQ27V5/ ... wCbYGSQJDP
I have fitted these to my X5 and they connect and work perfect. Early days but no reason to think they won’t last for years

That’s great Henry, I was tempted when you posted before about it, my only concern is I am running 285’s on the back so I wondered if they’d still work, have you got the standard 315 on the rear?

Sounded like you didn’t need to code the new sensors as well is that right?

I thought they might still work as there are a couple of different sizes of wheels that were fitted to X5s of different models and I can’t imagine they had a different RDC set up for different cars, always fancied getting it working rather than coding it out!

As far as I know they measure the pressure, irrespective of wheel size, for example mine are fitted to a staggered set up and rims are 22". No coding, just follow instructions in user handbook. Mine had registered and set within 300 meters. I just keep wondering now how many psi I need to loose before I get a message?? Next dry day I might drop 2 psi on one wheel and see if it sets a message.
I run the same psi all round so don’t know how it would cope with different pressures front and rear.

When first fitted do you not have to go through a procedure where the car learns what pressure is in each tyre, ( via the sensors ), then it detects if any particular pressure alters by a pre-set value, that way it won't matter if you run different tyre pressures.

Been driving around locally without problems and recently did an 700 mile round trip at speed :driving: , proof of that arrived in the post last week. On one occasion during that trip I had a message of "RDC INACTIVE” I pressed the RDC button and it reconnected. I’m pleased with the system. I really need to drop a few psi in one wheel to see what happens. That will be my task for this week

Cheers Henry, let me know if you remember, was going to get them before but a few other things popped up, I’ve got one valve you can’t even get an inflator on so I might go for this set if your operational check proves positive!

Dropped the pressure by 2 psi got back in the car and had a message "CHECK TYRE PRESSURE” doesn’t tell you which one but maybe that’s expecting to much. Anyway put the 2 psi back in, did a reset and although the book says drive for several hundred meters for it to register mine came up with a message that it had reset. Pleased with the test.

Seem very good then, and a tad cheaper than they are from the dealer!
