Radio

Post by Silverfox58 » Sun Feb 24, 2019 3:15 pm

Ok my radio works ok but the screen doesn't work,
Well it will come on if I take the battery lead off and on,
It stays on for about a min but I can't do anything, ie the buttons don't work but the radio dos but I can only control it from the steering wheel,
Any help please.

Get a code reader on it, check the connections on back of head unit and especially in the boot. Could have water in boot like another member on here.

Unfortunately as I had lots of similar problems years ago which were going to cost far more than replacing with aftermarket I went down the aftermarket route. So have reached the limit of my knowledge with the standard setup. Any advice I would give from here on would probably be complete bo£%&cks

I have 2006 3.0d with exact same issues. Had loads of battery issues, after the 4th jump start i replaced the battery.
After each jump the monitor came on and worked great, then all of a sudden nothing but audio from radio, steering controls work as do the station 1-6. Its a weekend driver and never for long journeys. When doing a long journey 100 miles on motorways, the monitor starts flickering into life and then works great. short journeys, no monitor.
Have a new battery same situation. but after two long motorway rides, and the last week been driving it daily the monitor is working excellent, completely faultless, (i do also have a little solar trickle charger plugged in for what little it does) Screen is fine now, but for some reason no tv tuner anymore.

Hmmm interesting I only do about 1 mile a day to pick my van up ,and if I'm home I may do 20 miles ??on a weekend, perhaps that's the problem.

The screen should light up when ignition is turned on..bit dim maybe when its minus temperatures.
