spare wheel size help

Post by dazzasgotav8 » Tue Jun 18, 2019 9:25 pm

hopefully someone can clear this up i have a facelift 4.4 v8 on 19" wheels my spare is 235/65/17 but since fitting the larger front brakes off a 4.8 v8 my spare no longer fits its to small , so my question is what size is the spare as fitted to the 4.8 with the larger front brakes , i have contacted sellers breaking various x5s but they all offer me the size wheel i currently have surely bmw did a bigger spare for the larger brakes :?

I’ve got a 4.6 but I think it’s the same as the 4.8 and you should have one of these weird looking spares. Sure someone will confirm or deny shortly!

The spare in my e53 was the same size as the front.

The spare wheel should be 18" if you have 4.8 brakes. Or carry a can of Goo and a small compressor like those with an LPG tank where the spare goes

wow wish my boot looked that mint , i can kinda get away with using my current spare as it still fits the rear just means if i get a front flat i have to fit spare to rear and the rear to the front  , so what size tyre is on that wheel and will it be ok to run with my 19" wheels or will the drive train get upset as dont the 4.8 run 20" wheels
seeing that clean boot makes me think i need to spruce mine up now :)

I can’t take the credit for that boot, I just looked on google for a stock image - my boot isn’t that clean - mind you it’s not that bad either! I can’t check what tyre is on my funny wheel cos the X is in the gearbox doctors as the moment, otherwise I’d have a look for you.

Just had a look on RealOEM it’s this size - so it’s just a skinny 19” wheel by the look of it, has a 155/80/19 on it from the look of it from another google
