Hi all.
I have a 3.0i manual e53 in need of a flywheel and clutch replacement.
I'm getting mixed answers of whether other BMW parts, such as that of an e46 3.0 would fit.
Could someone please clarify whether the parts from a similar M54 engine would indeed fit, or whether my parts need to be specifically for the e53 3.0i.
Thanks very much.

Re: X5 e53 clutch and flywheel parts
According to Realoem the same clutch kit is used on the 5 and 6 series but not the E46. I would assume the gearboxes are the same in those cars so they have a common clutch. If you haven’t come across that site, it is an up to date copy of the BMW parts database.
The flywheel again is 5 series, Mk1 X3 and X5 only.
Use the last 7 of your VIN on Realoem (in serial number) for identifying the parts.p, then go hunting.

Re: X5 e53 clutch and flywheel parts
Thanks very much.
I went on realoem last night with numberplate and not VIN.
It seemed to think e36, e46, z3 and 5 series flywheels would all fit.
I'll try again with correct VIN.
Thanks for your help again
