To be or not to be..

Post by Themoog2 » Tue Sep 03, 2019 10:57 pm

So, after 10 months of searching for a 4.8 or a 955 cayenne too replace my 4.4 - and not finding anything in as good condition as my own car I have decided to 'tinker' with it instead..
There isn't much to do really but one thing that has bothered me since buying it nearly 5 years ago is that the rear windows are not tinted. It does have retractable blinds so maybe that's the reason..
Anyway, Ive bought a pre cut 20% tint kit so I'm going to have a bash myself. And I'm going to refurbish the wheels- possibly in a dark grey or black.
Wish me luck.

Pics when done, remember my grandsons insurance wouldn’t pay out cos he changed wheel colour. Also tinted front side windows (legal shade of tint). Probably wouldn’t even have cost anything to declare them.

Well so far I've tinted the rear quarter lights on the doors and the side windows behind them. Used a heat gun to shrink the film like a pro. Dead easy...
When i get chance I'll do the rest and stick a photo on here.

Good man, last time I done that it looked like I had shares in a bubble factory.

Update.. I attempted the rear hatch the other day. It shrank OK but when I put it on the inside I accidentally creased it right in thee centre. No matter what I did I could not remove it so I ripped it out in a strop..
I had a quote of £200 to have the lot done but I'm determined to do it myself for £50. I'll have to buy a strip of film now to replace the one I cocked up but that's only £10.
