4.6 engine oil

Post by weirdfish » Mon Nov 25, 2019 2:49 pm

It's a bloody minefield nowadays when buying oil, I need a litre to keep for topping up now and again, I was using some that came with the car, just want to check it's the right oil before buying any more.
The oil that came with the car was Exol optima c3 LS 5W-30.
The car has done 114K miles.

As above.

Castrol’s FST 5W30 Edge is fine. You can use 0w30 if you want as long as it is fully synthetic and (ideally) ACEA C3.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

I use 5w 40 shell oil, can’t tell at the present time how much I’m using. Was using 3 ltrs between 7.5k oil service but recently (2.5k ago ) I changed the guides and had a blitz on the various oil leaks, now have a bone dry V8 and haven’t added anything in that 2.5k. There are no major brand bad oils. Just an opinion. 155k
