Thermostat
Thermostat
I have the lower running temperature thermostat kit fitted and the thermostat needs replacing, a whopping £8, to be honest I didn’t know it had failed till I looked on the OBC and saw I was running 75c, still had good heater. Of course now in hindsight when I look at the mpg I can see I’m down about 2 mpg. Don’t like looking at that to often with a 4.6l.

Re: Thermostat
The thermostat is a bargain! One or rather 2 for my e70 cost 88 quid.
As for 10 mpg well I knew there was a reason I didn't get a v8 as otherwise such a temptation...

Re: Thermostat
I’m running 15 mpg atm, normally nearer 17 mpg and over 18 mpg on longer runs. Which with lpg around half price of petrol I am comfortably getting 30mpg.
Re: Thermostat
Leslie, the conversion kit did cost me about £65 roughly 5 years ago. It’s done 50k so not brilliant for a thermostat, I’m trying a febi one this time.
Re: Thermostat
None of them seem to last very well these days It seems , its a common issue but for 8 quid it doesn't really matter . The gas certainly pays for itself then, my E70sd would only do about 20 mpg round town anyway so not much better than petrol with 28 mpg average on a very careful tankful !!!!!!!!!!
Re: Thermostat
It’s interesting to note the very large difference in price between up here in the north and in the south. Up to 11p and on nearly 70 ltrs that’s over £7
Re: Thermostat
Bit of price fixing there
I can get diesel in southern Ireland as I am on the border for £1.11 last week , its £1.21 in Northern Ireland so 10p a litre difference now but has been almost identical price at times due to exchange rate variations yet petrol is £1.20 either side no difference now !

I know what you mean Leslie. My father always nipped back and forward across the border to his advantage. But my eyes water at the price my brother pays in Dublin to own and run a car.
Re: Thermostat
Yes and road tax is savage In southern Ireland , 1200 euro for an x5 makes the £325 I pay seem cheap
