I assume yours had failed? Sorry if you've put this in a separate post - curious to see what the back story is.

Ah no problem it just started feeling rough on full lock at slow speed and steadily got worse,I did take it back to the garage I purchased it from but they had the A’A inspect it and said it was wear and tear and went 50% on it.
All good though now and not the end of the world. I’m running a staggered setup 20” and all tyres are star rated.

That must be quite annoying.
You have tried to make sure you dont have issues with the transfer box by using the correct tyres but get issues anyway.

It is a pain but Chris from xdrive service is probably the best person to explain.
It’s not the end of the world though with places like this to get it sorted,BMW is a different matter unless it’s wty.

100.000 miles out of the transfer box on such a heavy/powerfull/315 tyres/8 years old car is bad? Transfer box is a heart of the 4x4 xdrive system, continuously switching power/torque between front and back....

I didnt realise that it was classed as a wear and tear item.
There are loads of these cars around with way over 100,000 miles, does this mean that most of these will have had a replacement transfer box in them?
Are you able to say what was done to Mr Blacks transfer box to fix it and a rough cost for this.

I imagine spending a lot of time on full lock or in tight turns would affect the life of the transfer case, regardless of * marked tyres and precise RR matching front to back.

What was the cost and what was included?

Where is the place you got it done, location wise?
