Lots of wear, inside back tyre

Post by M140i » Thu Jan 24, 2019 5:59 pm

So I know X5’s are traditionally hard in the inside of the rear tyres, but last MOT, my rear passenger side was really worn whereas the driver side was perfect.

MOT centre - a reputable Indy BMW centre said they checked the suspension and there was no play at all, but there must be an issue.

Any ideas what the common faults are to cause this? Would it be covered under approved used warranty?

4-wheel tracking/alignment is the usual cure as the OEM setup can be a little wide on tolerances and bumping one wheel in a pothole or up a kerb at speed will upset the alignment.

Never (yet) heard of it being covered under even OEM warranty unless the car is less than 6 months old in which it gets classed as a factory defect.
