OK, so here's an update.

I bought a K-Line diagnostic cable and software from https://www.cable-shack.co.uk/products.php and ran INPA on my laptop. Well there's certainly a lot of error codes which I'll try and address on a different post but here are the PDC ones (I've run them through a Google Translate app):

Before resetting:

E R R O R M E M O R Y R E P O R T
-------------------------------------
Date: 01/26/19 10:04:19
ECU: PDCACT
JobStatus: OK
Variant: PDCACT
-------------------------------------------------- -----------
RESULT: 4 errors in error memory!
-------------------------------------------------- -----------
16 rear left converter
Error frequency: 50
line break
Error currently available
-------------------------------------------------- -----------
18 transducers rear center left
Error frequency: 217
Short circuit supply / data line to ground
line break
Ausschwingfehler
sporadic error
-------------------------------------------------- -----------
21 converter right front
Error frequency: 14
line break
sporadic error
-------------------------------------------------- -----------
34 front sounder off
Error frequency: 78
Short circuit to ground
line break
sporadic error
================================================== ===========

After resetting:

E R R O R M E M O R Y R E P O R T
-------------------------------------
Date: 01/26/19 10:05:05
ECU: PDCACT
JobStatus: OK
Variant: PDCACT
-------------------------------------------------- -----------
RESULT: 1 errors in error memory!
-------------------------------------------------- -----------
16 rear left converter
Error frequency: 50
line break
Error currently available
================================================== ===========

Any advise would be awesome.

Thanks

If memory serves you said you bought the car with this fault, do you know if the previous owner had any of the bumpers off or loosened to fiddle with headlights or other things. Those faults suggest there is an earth fault, which is normally a careless refit of a bumper (like I did) All my rear plugs were accessible by just laying under the bumper but front needed removing, if your going to all that trouble I would suggest as you unplug you spray with contact cleaner before refit. As a last resort you will have to do a continuety check to the module. My wire wasn’t broken but it was touching the chassis.

Going by that code you need to check the wires and sensor at the rear left.

The other 3 seem to be ok so it cant be something that they all share or they would all be faulty.

Swapping a different sensor to the rear left would eliminate the sensor :)
