Coding

Post by Gonkface » Thu Jan 31, 2019 7:32 am

Is it possible to perform any coding on a 2009 e70 via Carly or Bimmercode? I'd like to have my car give an audible signal when the alarm is activated. Be interested to know if anybody else has performed any coding on their e70.

Yes coding is possible, as is alarm chirp when car is locked

I’ve coded,
Digital speed display on binnacle
Alarm chirp, when locking, it’s possible to also have this for unlocking
Five flash indicators,
Played around with the headlamp wash, though reverted to every third squirt of the screen
Remote open/closing of tailgate from keyfob (you need electric tailgate),
Foglights come on as cornering lights (you need adaptive lights)
Welcome lights, currently using foglights only.

Digital cockpit is a function I use for coolant temp monitoring
I installed Avin screen, combine the digital cockpit with Avin Dashboard allows real-time monitoring,

What’s possible is .......

Though note, Carly has moved to Annual subscription, which is expensive on the face of it, though cheaper than a dealer diagnostic, relatively easy to use and avoids code writing errors that can brick modules, all is easily reversible

I have tried with Carly but my OBD adapter is not the branded one, it is a quality one that I used on my ex Ford Escape 2013 it's a very fast device but every time I try it says that it is too slow or not the adecuate for the particular coding function. As far as I can get is to perform coding back up :/
But as for the previous provided webpage Carly had many possibilities :)

Interested in your purchase of the Avin screen. Was the installation as easy as it looks on Youtube!!!? Is your car CIC or CCC?

I have CiC

Installation was relatively easy as I’d had the screen out before
The lower dash was a bit of chore, as first time I’d pulled though likewise second time around it’ll be easy,
Mulf unit t gave much banter getting it back in with the Avin Harness, nothing a bit of time patience and walk around the car with gritted teeth didn’t solve

Noting my options, pro Nav, DAB, Bluetooth (calls & streaming), Individual Audio, Reverse Cams (Rear, side & 360) Pan Roof
Not gloating, it’s possibly important for my one line review.....

All OEM functions are retained

The unit can be switched to Android, using house or phone hotspot with WiFi, you can browse online etc, with my unit I paid for IGo navigation, waste of money, doesn’t work, likewise the online google maps doesn’t work
I believe the Android side is not getting a gps signal, I quickly tried the Avin Antenna though not that hard
I do use the phone link side, this allows display of your phone on screen, allbeit 2/3 view, this I use for navigation and it’s pretty cool, with speed alert, Camera alert etc etc, with a very modern display, however sound only from phone
My Bluetooth Audion streaming still works on OEM screen
Pan roof, does cause a lot of glare, however I ordinarily run my screen in Nighttime mode
The resolution of the screen is much higher than the bmw screen, sharper, more vibrant colour etc.

If your looking for all singing all dancing stable Android system - I have yet to find that with the Avin system
If your looking at updating the dash in your E70 - it certainly delivers,
Fortunately, I was only after a fresher look
