Post by brandon888 » Wed Nov 06, 2019 11:30 pm

Hi all ! What type of engine oil (brand and grade) you guys are using. Mine original running on long life (0W30) which need to change every 2 years. But I tend to change mine every 6-8 months.

Starting a "what oil do you use" thread can make for a long thread.
Firstly what engine does the heap run.
I recommend a major brand fully synthetic and choice of viscosity by the recommendations of the chart in the owners manual. Brand can be a matter of what is convenient for you.

I'm the same. It's not that I dis-trust the oil itself, rather the tiny oil filter.
IMO, any oil that conforms to BMW's LL04 spec. should be fine. Personally, I've been using Exol in all our cars for the last 15 years. It's what my local parts supplier sells and I've never had a problem with it. 3 different BMWs, a couple of Fords, and 2 Citroens - all of which have done more than 50k miles in our ownership, over 100k in the case of one of the BMWs - all on the same brand of oil with no problems.

Bit harsh. It's probably his pride-and-joy.
