Assuming your car. (like my 2002 example), came with a Motorola V50 with BMW firmware then thats what you need. If you don't get one with BMW firmware it will drain your battery when car ignition is off.BMW firmware phonbes have BMW logo on screen. ......................Disregard this advice at your cars peril.

I havent used the following site but appears legitimate - maybe do some research if concerned but seemingly £69 buys a working unit. More on this clicky

Alternatively retrobrick are 100% legitimate & been around a while............might even be associated to the 1st site I linked............I dont know though.

Alternatively keep an eye on ebay item 330515957401

I thought I was in the same predicament as you when I first got my car ....... Then I discovered it had a Bluetooth module. A long shot, but are you sure yours doesn't?

Module can be seen mounted at a jaunty angle below boot floor at LHS by the hatch where the nav computer and CD changer are. It's a small silver box a bit bigger than a box of ciggies (not thisI smoke...). Plenty of threads on this I'd have thought - worth a search.

If you have the inbuilt phone system and sim card holder in the armrest then it pairs over bluetooth. The system was called the BMW/Motorola Everest System. Not sure if you can get another handset to pair, but a dealer may be able to tell you. I certainly have a bluetooth passkey for mine which kind of implies it must be possible.

You should still be able to get an official handset if all else fails. I had trouble with mine a couple of years back as it would not shut down when the car went to sleep. The Dealer reprogrammed the system to force a shut down after 15mins. Stopped the battery drain I had been suffering from.

Thank you... that would be good if you could check

I recently bought a Sony Ericsson T610 with BMW cradle to suit the phone I was told that the phone had the BMW firmware but it did not have this. I was advised not to use a phone without the firmware.
