coolant leak

Post by ayat » Fri Apr 15, 2011 9:30 pm

hey guys just a bit of advice, i ve had the x5 coming upto 4 years. i want to sort out all of the problems with a view to put on the market at the end of the year. its had a coolant leak pretty much since ive owned it, and has never really being fixed, after being fed up of topping it up, most people have not been able to see where its coming from, took it a few months ago to a probably one of the best bmw specialist near me, said they replaced some clamps here and there, replenished, but that emptied pretty quick, with the warmer weather im using water which i know isnt good, but coolant too expensive just to lose, im thinking shall i just replace the radiator. any one had similar problems. thanks

If you plan on replacing the radiator anyway why not try Radweld first?
Had a leak on my Audi few years ago and this fixed it for under a fiver.

Got to be worth a go.

I had a water leak on mine that no-one could find, turned out to be some obscure pipe under the manifold. I had the manifold removed when having an injector and glow plug replaced.

Preface Lift diesel, doesn't seem to be obvious where it's going, will be going in for a service soon, I've seen some nice aluminium radiators on eBay if the rad is to blame, will mention the pipe thanks.
