Just before Attila the Mum died, she converted from oil CH to gas. When I got the bill for the month before she died (last July), it was £378 for the month. I shudder to think what it would have been now.

We had a gas-fired Aga until a few years ago.

A lot of people went to gas over here in Norn Ireland , we have about 1/3 on gas and 2/3 on oil and quite a few in my street . Not looking such a good idea now , at least with oil you can buy it when its cheap and store it ,no such luxury with gas .

Seen £2:11 for diesel today at a local retailer can anyone top that, at least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask (Tesco is 1:53 )

Wow!! That’s over £200 to fill an E53 is it? 92-litre tank (or something thereabouts). Oil prices have fallen again today but no doubt there’ll be some reason for that to be a little slow in being seen by those of us buying fuel.

Shell is £1.64.9 locally.

Same outlet was £1.749 for diesel today. I don't know what increments it has gone up by, until today I hadn't passed it since Saturday - when it was less than £1.60, IIRC. Less than a mile up the road, a (usually expensive) Shell forecourt was £1.669 and Sainsburys was the same price. On the way home, my regular Esso was £1.609. It's no more than 7 miles from the others.

Our local garage yesterday, needless to say I won’t be using them anytime soon!
Around 25-30p a litre cheaper in Derby!

Some profiteering going on now wayfarer and diesel shouldn't be that much more than petrol , I think if it hits 2 quid I may need to park up the x5 and get a small cheap diesel car as 170 a fill is a bit much till it settles down
Mine averages 27 mpg overall but with being careful I can get as high as 33 mpg on a 20 mile run but town driving or going over 60 and it drinks the fuel.
I see opec are looking to crank up production now and make some dough when the price is up Panic buying seems the next likely step if you can afford it with these daily iprice increaes and our local tesco ran out of fuel yesterday.

By yesterday, they were charging £1.789. Today it's back to £1.729.

Bit like the early 70's at least we not on reduced electricity distribution !! Power off 3 days a week that will please EV guys if that happens.

And with the rapid increases in the price of electricity next month and in October, what’s that mean for EV owners? Still cheaper for now. I don’t know what it costs to fully charge a family car sized EV. I know it’s best done overnight, but some owners may not have a choice if they need a boost.

We were warned Covid is the new normal, if the Ukrainian situation doesn't ease or better still stop soon, a guerrilla type war will be with us in Europe, possibly for years. Syrian fighters in Europe can't have been envisaged in anyone's scenario.

Boycotting Russian energy, which we absolutely must do and for good, now means higher prices are going to be the new normal too. Thats assuming Russia doesn't unleash nuclear missiles. Covid and the cost of living would then of course be irrelevant.

We all know this is dangerous, i wonder and worry for the generations behind me just what kind of world they will be living in.

........... Which is precisely why, for many years, I have never been bothered that I have no offspring. It wasn't a conscious decision, my life just panned-out this way.

In my case i have a daughter and granddaughter. Plenty to be concerned about but not much i can do.

X5sport a quick google suggests a Nissan leaf entry 40 kw model would cost 300 a year. ( A YEAR !!!!!) and is £4 a charge in electric charging overnight , soon cost that a fill in an x5 Charging during the day away from home costs about 3 times that which isn't a whole lot less than an economic than a small 45 mpg petrol which they estimate costs 1200 quid a year over 9k

one of the oil states said this week that short term high oil prices are great but if it lasts the scramble for electric from which there will be no return will massively cut the demand for oil and crash the price in the longer term.

£1.60 for diesel at Tesco cheapest today , £1.68 at Asda and £1.80 noted not far away , petrol 8p cheaper now when they are usually close ....
