Hi, Simon H
When I bought my car there was already stone chips and road rash on bottom of sills and rear wheel arches, but since I fitted mud flaps they haven't got any worse

I took out a Bmw warranty last year on a 2012 3.0d with 44000 miles it's cost me just under 1k with £250 excess, so far I haven't had to use it.

It depends upon there being any sign of excess play in the shaft.  And it is a QE, not a recall - BMWs way of avoiding a full recall as permitted within the EU and almost nowhere else!
So what happens if in few years from now when there is excess play and then breaks? Who would takes responsibility?

What I don't understand is if it's a recall why are there only replacing some cars and not others? Mine went in last week and they said doesn't need replacing

I've been following this thread, Mine is a 2012 m sport with 43000 miles, Spoke to my local dealer yesterday about the recall he has confirmed it needs to come in for an inspection so booked in this Friday will let you guys know what the outcome is.

Update, my car went in today for a quality enhancement check and said that my car propshaft doesn't need replacing, They explained there are two types of propshaft one comes with metal joint which rusts and fails, And the second is a rubber joint which mine is so doesn't need replacing.[emoji852]️ So will have to wait and see how I get on over next few years, I still have a BMW warranty with this car and will keep it going just for my piece of mind.

General X5 Forum (E70) / Tyre sealent
« on: November 03, 2017, 10:40:08 AM »
Hi, just wondering if any one has considered having  tyre sealent in there tyre as prevention from a puncture my car is the m sport staggered set up with 20" wheels with runflat Bridgestone tyres as I believe if you have a puncture in one tyre you have to replace tyres as pairs, so having tyre sealent before you have a puncture make sense? What do you guys think? There are couple of companies I've found offering this service

www.bikeseal.co.uk

And

www.tyreseal.co.uk

Hi, PioneerSMM
Only took it out in July had to wait 30 days before it kicked in another reason I took warranty out was because of a known issues with propshaft failure without notice, and damaging engine, transfer box and gearbox.

General X5 Forum (E70) / Re: Service history query
« on: July 19, 2017, 10:04:09 PM »
I Bought a X5 2012 3.0d sports last year from a independent dealer, he had a fully stamp service book but I was still not happy, because there were no invoices to back up stamps, so I asked him if he could get in touch with the previous owner or dealer who serviced the car and get me a copy of all invoices before I buy, which he did for me.

Thankyou for your replies, been to my local BMW Jct Bradford who printed out a sheet what work was completed, and confirm it's on there system without a charge, [emoji106]  spoke to BMW warranty aswell they said as long as it's on there data base there's no issues, it's a shame some dealers like Williams in Manchester where the car was bought new and serviced feel they can rip customer off just for a stamp that they missed off
