Totally agree - I'm saying the big hit was taken by BMW right at the outset.

Re: Fuel consumption M50D
I found this on the net: http://bioage.typepad.com/.shared/image.html?/photos/uncategorized/autobild1.png and whilst none of the cars are quite as brick shaped as the X5, the message is pretty clear - your fuel economy will improve by at least 33% if you slow down from 100 mph to 80 mph. That would ...

Re: Fuel consumption M50D
I suppose it depends on what kind of driving you are doing ... and how you drive it. :) Most of my driving is quite sedate, but I do lots of short journeys crawling or sitting still in traffic. When on the motorway and the roads do open up I dont like to hang about and the aerodynamics of a brick on...

Re: Window trim wrapped
I think the Mirror caps and little "matching"? bars over the vents, together with a black grille, chrome roof rails and white paint is at least one colour too many. Not intending to cause offence, just my view.... I think the mirror caps and matching bars are where it all goes wrong. I wou...

Re: M50d dealer contributions
A quick google of "broadspeed" will get you to https://broadspeed.com According to their website they reckon they can get you 19.6% off an M50d. This is pretty much the level that was available when I bought last year and like you I would expect that if anything discounts might get better ...

Re: No more scratches.....
Looks great. My previous F15 was the same colour and I also had it detailed and protected. When I sold it after 3 years it looked as good as new. I treated in properly when I washed it and would drive it dirty rather than get it cleaned by the wrong people. That said, the Space grey is a great colou...

Sounds a nice spec. Look forward to seeing the pics!
I'm on my 2nd F15 (though neither were 40D). Not aware of any recurring problems.

Re: Adaptive cruise
[quote="Rassi"] I am until now also less than enthused about the ACC - it leaves a too big gap before slowing down, and I find that it is too abrupt in scrubbing off speed/braking - maybe it is the speed differential that is too big, as I do tend to make progress, and I would rather coast ...

Re: Fancy a 2009 35d with the 6 speed auto - worth paying more for 8 speed?
Well I have owned an E70 6 speed then a F15 (8 speed), so not quite the comparison you are looking for. I really liked my first E70 which was 6 speed 35d. It always seemed fast enough to me. When I changed it for the F15 I went to the 30d, which had a turbo less. However, the combination of the 8 sp...
