X5 Cranks but just wont start up

I think the system is determined to get you into an EV one way or another using draconian measures if necessary. I admire how the French get out on the streets if they are not happy like with the retirement age.

Dipping Wing Mirror

In the past I have taken them to bits and always found the cheap little gear wheel repair kits and some new grease sorts them out. The hardest thing to fix is if the little micro switch metal arm is broken/missing or bent. Haven’t found anywhere to buy the micro switch with the correct arm.

Been out and about today during which time the X started to hesitate, die of throttle and could only be kept running by using the throttle. No fault codes so did a fuel pressure test and am seeing 38psi rather than 50/52. Is this likely to be the filter which incorporates the pressure regulator or t...

Hopefully it’s just dust. Not like it gets a lot of use or maybe it’s because it’s not used. Who knows.

While doing my scans I have the fault. LSZ/LCM (light switching centre) Dimmer Potentiometer Wire Open. Are we talking about the dimmer for the instrument cluster lights? It works and is just a small irritant that a fault is listed that a spray of contact cleaner might fix. As always replies are app...

Ignition Switch

Fortunately t hasn’t been expensive the three parts came out at around £70. The brake light switch and the clock spring I will keep as spares, interestingly the ignition switch could have been repaired once the cover is popped off. It is just 6 contact points which needed a rub with emery or a file ...

The replacement ignition switch arrived yesterday and has now been fitted. All steering wheel controls now work and airbag light is out. Interestingly the replacement clock spring hasn’t arrived yet so I suspect there was nothing wrong with the brake light switch either. So diagnostics says steering...

Your spot on that last image is exactly like mine down to the clear plastic cover. I’ll get in touch with them and point out the error of their ways.

Not quite what your suggesting but I did fit a second electric fan with 2 stage switch 1 at 93c and second stage at 99c. Never heard the second stage kick in and only ever hear the first stage after stopping and switching off. Normally will cycle 1 or 2 times. I ran about for a while without one jus...

Notice it hasn’t been mentioned, disconnect the battery for 30 minutes, this fixes an amazing amount of electrical faults. Don’t ask why cos I don’t know.
