I’ve seen ads for 23-2 so there must be something out there. I get mine from OEM now as there’s often a discount via the BMW Connected-Drive store. The X6 one was about £35. You just need a PC and 32GB USB drive.

Current download from BMW is Road Map Europe West PREMIUM 2024-1 (BMW’s use of Caps, not mine. East is also avail should you feel the need). I pay £39 a year all in for as many maps as they issue. On my second update of the year. You need a 32GB USB drive as it’s about 20GB in size. I may be getting it cheaper because mine renews over Black Friday weekend and I also have a current Connected Drive sub. Without this I think it’s about £79/year.

Cars less than 3 years old should get it free (or if your maps sub is current) as an Over the Air (OTA) update.

My car is a 2010 with the cic but it won't update.
Plug the usb stick in and it starts updating but fails at 56%.
Tried many sticks but the same every time.

I used to have to do mine via three USB sticks in turn, but the current BMW downloader utility only needs one. Also complains if I use a USB 3 stick as the head only supports USB2. Hasn’t stopped it loading though. Maps come with a new FSC every time.

Tried usb 2 and an older one along with several brands of usb 2 all fail at the same point.
I gave up after around 6 goes at it.

Could be a corrupted download, certain brands of USB don’t seem to work (PNY is a brand flagged as bad, Sandisk as good), firmware issue in the head unit, format error if the USB drive is bigger than 32GB or head issue (least likely).

A failing hard drive has been mentioned but everything works as it should.
