Emissions and New charges in French cities

Post by graemeX5 » Wed Apr 05, 2017 8:05 am

Hi all

There are some new charges in France.

I was sent this link by the RAC about emissions and the introduction of a clean air certificate in French cities called Crit'Air vignette which is in force and is now needed to drive in their cities and if you don't have one you can be fined.

It also has links to the French website where you can apply for a certificate and is based on your cars emissions. I couldn't find a table show the cost unless you apply.

So worth a read as I know quite a few head over there with their X5's

With the issue of clean air here, I wonder what the brains of Britain will come up with for us. Diesel amnesty on cars, higher tax, ?????? Wow now I have got the X5 ...... oh well just have to suck it up.

The problem was that the motor industry did its usual and promised that it would clean everything up emissions wise but the regulators left such huge holes in the regs that the industry took full advantage and used every loophole available.  No other industry is allowed to get away with as much.

I must admit to being puzzled by the London idea that even if you have an EU6 compliant vehicle, if it is more than 4 years old you still get hit!

The testing regime will be changed now to pick up missing DPFs etc at MOT time, but I haven't seen the 'how'.

Not under the new scheme you won't.  EU4 for petrol and EU6 for diesel - with very few exemptions.  It only affects the Congestion Charge Zone from this October, wider from 2019 and planned to come right out to the North/South Circular ring.

If many of these so called professional garages or so called tuning companies  didn't  remove there Dpf  from cars to line there pockets our air would be cleaner
