The Bluetooth is a separate system not connected to the sat nav.  The wiring loom is probably in place however you will need to source the modules.  Realoem will give you what to look for.  Use the latest version you can find on there.

The last 7 characters of your VIN in ‘Serial Number’ will bring up the right model/variant.

No OEM Nav System has everything included - it depends upon what options were specced at build, and Bluetooth regularly got left off.  Note that even when fitted it only gave hands-free phone.  Streaming didn’t appear until a few years later.

Thanks for the reply. Am I guessing it would be just as easy if not easier to put a fascia and a nice double din ?

It would have a lot more modern functionality that’s for sure.  A few on here have, or are doing the same.

And :hi: too  :D

Have a search on here. I recently replaced my OEM Nav system with an aftermarket unit and it has transformed the driving experience now- so nice to have modern tech in the X5 now.

As yours is non Nav it will be easier to fit an aftermarket unit too. Have a look at connects2 for the required wiring and fascia Adapters.

A Kenwood or Pioneer with fascia adapter can be had for the same price as an xtrons and is a FAR superior unit.

yes for sound it will be but not for features. Xtron is a little shit agreed but the AVIN units are very good. Unless your running competition spec sound i think the quality will be sufficient enough. they look better and the features are endless.

When i had my X5 i made my own fascia from MDF and wrapped it in carbon to match the interior, but the fascia on sale look pretty ugly and ruin the look imo.

I have Dynavin and my son has the xtron 9" screen which is very impressive size and feature wise. Sits at a much better angle, has the Torque adapter plugged into the OBD port has instant diagnostics and internet to look up the fault code. Has live data. Sound seems good, not as good as my DSP system but ok. Has crap radio reception but we think that is down to the vehicle rather than the HU. He plans to carbon rap the unit, if he does it will be excellent or it will be ripped off.

I also suffered with the crap radio reception on my Dynavin, I contemplated fitting a stand alone aerial, as the BMW diversity set up is only affective on OEM units me thinks.

Keep forgetting I fitted an after market aerial, probably why mine has such good reception.
