Ceramic coat paint protection

Post by Bob » Tue Oct 23, 2012 10:17 pm

Hi, new to the forum. Currently in process of ordering a new X5. Been offered the above at £399.
I usually avoid these sort of add ons, but wondering if anyone has experience of it.
Thanks and looking forward to hopefully being an X5 owner soonish!

Welcome.

I went for the more expensive option only offered abroad (recommended by BMW in NL as their options). Not familiar with this option though.

The main issue to watch out for used to be stone chippping around the rear arches especially if you have 20s.  Now the new cars are fitted with the film in vulnerable areas to provide protection against this.  Other than the film I had added (before BMW were doing this) I avoided paint protection products understanding them generally to offer little added protection, but don't know the type you're mentioning.

I know there are others on this forum that invested in specialist pre-delivery treatment who I'm sure will comment ...

Ceramic coat paint protection

Thanks for replies so far. Regarding the protective film, as I'm having 20" wheels, is this done as standard or do I have to prod the dealer to do it?

I understand it's fitted as standard now, but worth double checking for peace of mind.

Is standard now.

Not the greatest looking, but the price you have to pay for protection.
